History of FCCLA |
 |
FCCLA was first founded in 1945 as the club Future Homemakers of America. Later that year the first issue of "Teen Times," now the FCCLA magazine, was published. The very first FHA meeting was held in Kansas City in 1948. 20 years later, New Homemakers of America, a club similar to Future Homemakers of America but in predominantly black schools merged with FHA. This merge made FHA not just a club, but a national organization! In 1999 the name was changed to Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, the emblem, logo, motto, flower, and colors were created and voted upon. Now, in 2010, we are celebrating 65 years of strong leadership in a great student-lead club, focusing on family (we are the only school club with that focus), careers, community, and LEADERSHIP!
