  • Berkmar was awarded recognition for “superior” performance in each of the last 6 years by the Gwinnett County Public Schools internal evaluation of schools. Only the top schools in the district receive this recognition each year.

  • Berkmar was selected as the only site visit high school for The Broad Prize for Urban Education research team when the district was a finalist in 2009. The Broad Prize for Urban Education is the highest honor given to school districts in America. Berkmar students received more Broad Scholarships than any other school that year.

  • Berkmar is the only high school in Gwinnett County to receive the prestigious College Board Inspiration Award-a $25,000 award given to only 3 schools in the nation each year.

  • Berkmar is a past recipient of the Best Buy Teach Award-a $10,000 prize given to exemplary schools.

  • Berkmar has been recognized multiple times by the governor of Georgia for being an “Advanced Placement Honor School” for equity and access.

  • The Berkmar Academic Decathlon Team won the state championship in 6 of the last 8 years, and won first place in large-division schools at the state competition for 8 consecutive years.

  • Berkmar boasts having the only 9th grade AP scholar in the state in 2009, and having 5 of the 6 9th grade AP scholars in the entire state in 2010.

  • Berkmar recently won the Region 8 Literary Team championship.

  • Berkmar Fine Arts programs consistently earn superior ratings at state and national events, including a group  state title at the GHSA Literary Competition.

  • Berkmar graduates have enrolled at Stanford, Harvard, MIT, and U Penn, among other prestigious universities, in the last several years.
