Deaf Academic Bowl consists of a team of three to five players chosen by the head coach to represent Berkmar HS at the region competition. All players are deaf or hard of hearing. We compete with deaf/hard of hearing teams from 9 states in the southeast region. Practice times and dates are not open to public. Sponsors in the past have been Woodmen of World Insurance and Georgia Association of the Deaf. We are working towards getting more sponsors for 2009-10. Our competition date is March 4-7 at Florida School for the Deaf in St. Augustine, FL. Gallaudet University is in charge of the competition and has been hosting the National Championship match at their university campus in Washington, D.C. If we finish in the top three, we become eligible to compete in Washington D.C.
